Drivers Meeting - December 7th

What's happening "Behind The Scenes" - On Monday, December 7th - Transportation Director, Donna Cubit-Swoyer, led a meeting of 61 Volunteer Meals On Wheels Drivers gathered at Village On The Isle. The tables were set up by Route Number and many of the drivers got to meet other drivers from the same route, different days of the week. We were able to discuss situations arising when deliveries are made and any items pertinent to providing excellent meal service to our recipients. All who attended agreed that it was a great idea to get together like this. Thank you Donna for hosting this early morning event.

The 2010 CROP Walk will take place on February 28, 2010. Merry Christmas was the theme - Santa was coming to town - the Town was Venice, Florida, Paradise on the Gulf!!
125 floats - 3,000 parade marchers and streets lined with happy parade watchers in a holiday mood waiting for Santa.
Venice boasts of the largest Christmas Parade on the Gulf Coast and this one lived up to its reputation. Volunteers Doris and Gerry Yates, Donna Cubit-Swoyer, Jim and Joyce Peterson and Jim and Sherry Eubanks anxiously awaited the parade to start rolling down Venice Avenue on a very chilly Florida evening.
With holiday decorations on our convertibles we sported red car hop trays borrowed from the local Sonic Drive-In to carry our display of Meals On Wheels containers. As we drove up the Avenue and the parade watchers saw our Meals On Wheels signs they applauded, yelled way to go Meals, Meals rocks, wonderful service, thank you Meals and on and on - it literally brought tears to our eyes, it was a very heartwarming reception.
A wonderful start to our holiday season. Thank you Venice for a great parade.
P.S. We were so busy being in the parade we missed Santa's arrival - but we know he is pleased with our wonderful service to our community and Meals recipients.
Happy Holidays to you all.

| November brought an opportunity to host a booth at Bealls Outlet on the Island of Venice. Helen & Val from Bealls invited a dozen local organizations to talk about their services with Bealls customers. Several of our volunteers took turns "hosting" the booth. We all had a very enjoyable day. |
